“Jungle” or “Samo” Rice, also known as Bhagar, is actually a whole grain that has been cultivated for thousands of years in the West and Southern Indian States and is used in Indian cuisine. This grain is usually eaten during fasting and religious ceremonies because it is easy to digest. With digestible fibers, it is a healthier and lower glycemic substitute for white rice for people who are watching their sugar intake or blood sugar levels, such as individuals with diabetes.
We use Samo rice in VedaFoods pilafs because it is delicious, filling, low glycemic and a healthier alternative to white rice. Read more about our ingredients.
